My Goodness, where have the years gone? November of '07 I celebrated 25
years on the air here in the Rio Grande Valley and now on Novemember of 2012 I will mark my 30th anniversary! I thought I'd share some tidbits about my life for my faithful listeners.
I was born on June 27th 1959 in Brownsville, Tx.
I grew up in Mercedes where I graduated from in 1977.
In 1982 I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Pan American University in Edinburg.
In November of 1982 I was hired to my first radio job with KTEX when they were originally located in Mercedes. Back then the call letters were KTXI and they were on the 106.3 FM frequency.
Remeber the original KTEX DJ line-up?
Mornings 6am-10am ERIC SIMON
Mid-days 10am-3pm PHYLLIS WEST
Afternoons 3pm-7pm SONNY LAGUNA(the goon in the afternoon)
Evenings 7pm-12am BLAIR DEERE
Midnights 12am-6am PABLO CRUZ
I shared weekend duties with my good friend Sonny Cuellar. I was Frank Deleon on the air but I credit Pablo Cruz with my current air name "Frankie D". Evertime he saw me walking down the station hallway that's what he would call me. Before I knew it, everyone was calling me that and the name just stuck. Well, hope you enjoyed that. Catch up with you guys soon!
