I always love the holidays - the weather, the gift giving, the socials, hanging out with family.....the pressure to get something special for your loved ones - out doing last years gift, etc...
I received a Christmas card this year (last year) 2011 that made me look twice. It wasn't the card - rather the signature that I didn't recognize.
Take a look - see if you can figure out who it is. We'll give a KTEX CD 6-pack to the first person who can identify who this card is from...
Respond back to us on the KTEX Facebook Fan page...good luck!
A roller coaster season....I love the Dallas Cowboys - have since I was a little kid. Through thick & thin - I sit in my bedroom watching 'da Boys' go at it every Sunday. I've also had the pleasure of seeing them in person. I used to be a season ticket holder, until the prices started to escalate....but that's another story.
This year, (as we do every year) say 'this is our year' we have a chance to go all the way - but that is why the games are played on the field and not on paper. We figure to split with division foes & lose to a top AFC team & win the rest. What I can't understand is (like a roler coaster) one week we are up & the next we are down. We move the ball - running & passing...the defense holds - - - then the next week, we give up long runs, big pass plays - and here we go again...waiting till the final week of the sseason to try to get into the playoffs.
Honestly, I am already looking forward to next year. Today, the Cowboys released their opponent schedule for next season. This is still up in the air - depending on where they end up at the end of the season - winners of the division, second, or third (which is still possible).
Home – New Orleans, Tampa, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Green Bay (if they win the NFC East), Detroit (if they come in second) or Chicago (if they end up third).
Away – Atlanta, Carolina, Baltimore, Cincinnati and San Francisco (if they finish first), Seattle or Arizona (pending their finish).
Plus, the usual suspects; Philadelphia, Washington & the NY Giants.
Keep your fingers crossed - see what happens. :)

It's time...again! The KTEX 10 Man Christmas Jam Part 2! We are excited & ready to go for the second Jam.
Last year, we had John Rich of Big & Rich, Thompson Square, Jerrod Niemann, Katie Armiger, Sunny Sweeney, Troy Olsen, Rich O'Toole, Shy Blakeman, and Jacob Lyda. Brett Eldredge was scheduled to appear, but got sick 2 days before the show.
Out of that crop of musicians; John Rich went on to win NBC's THE APPRENTICE, Thompson Square had a massive hit with Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not, Katie Armiger had the #1 video on GAC for 4 weeks for her song Best Song Ever, and South Texas fans made Sunny Sweeney a recognizable name with her hit; From A Table Away.
This year, who will emerge as the next country superstar? You'll remember a couple of years ago when we had Jason Aldean perform for us in a free show. Look at him now!
Already, South Texas fans are anxious to see the return of Steve Holy (Brand New Girlfriend, Good Morning Beautiful, and his latest song, Love Don't Run)...Heidi Newfield has always been a Valley favorite, dating back to her days with Trick Pony. KTEX was one of the first stations in the United States to play her music (Pour Me)...Josh Thompson made some serious waves when he performed at the outdoor stage before Brad Paisley's H2O Tour at the State Farm Arena...Steel Magnolia has wonderful music & harmonies...Brett has asked to come back to make good his absence from last year's show. We welcome them all with open arms.
This year, we have some of the young guns of country music; Randy Montana, Kip Moore, Ashton Shepard, The Dirt Drifters, and Frankie Ballard joining us. I have had the pleasure of spending time with these 10 artists and discussing with them the unique nature of South Texas. They are all eager & anxiously awaiting to make their way down to the Rio Grande Valley.
Also as a part of the 10 Man Jam, we will also have the Dallas Cowboys Fan Fest. You will be able to see the mobile pro shop, mobile Hall Of Fame museum & be a part of some interactive games.
The $10 ticket benefits the Food Bank RGV. They feed close to a million meals a month. Do your part & purchase a couple of tickets. The information page is here: http://www.ktex.net/pages/10manjam.html
We'll see you Saturday December 3rd at Winks Saloon in Brownsville. Everyone is invited - let's have some fun & show our South Texas support - each of these artists are coming in on their own time & giving of their talents :)
Charles Kelly & Dave Hayward of Lady Antebellum got some hang time with Miss Piggy. She is currently pimping her new Muppets movie. Lady A is oout on their Own The Night Tour. If you saw them earlier this month - you know how great of a show that was...

If you were there, you remember the feeling...the night that Jerrod Niemann, The Eli Young Band, and Dierks Bentley took over the Pharr Events Center. It was a special night.
During the Country & Cold Cans Tour, a special flag was presented to Dierks by the WWP of the RGV. Click on the video to see a piece of the presentation.
Every now & then, you get a wild hair to do something crazy...One of those came up, the other day - I decided to take a little road trip to Frisco, Texas, just outside of Dallas to see the H2O II Tour, starring Brad Paisley, featuring; Blake Shelton and Jerrod Nieman.
The Pizza Hut Park in Frisco is home to the FC Dallas Soccer team - nice place - - but very hot & humid...luckily, Brad had a place for us to stay cool...We arrived at 5pm, in time to run up to the suite to see what our view would be like, get a quick drink, then head downstairs to catering. Brad had us over for dinner - wow what a spread...salads, fish, pork ribs, pasta, veggies, and red velvet cake - yummy!
We ran into Jerrod Nieman on our way to Brad's Vibe Room, so we chatted a bit about the tour & weather, then off to the Vibe...Brad & Blake got a chance to come over to hang & chit chat - it's always cool catching up & telling old stories. Both guys are doing great, happy to be on the road & very pleased with their personal lives.
After that, we went back to the suite to see Jerrod perform, followed by Blake, then Brad. Jerrod came over to hang with us, after his performance & brought some of his marga-daqueri-chill-alotta-on the beach drinks....
Blake's show was awesome, he did some rock & disco songs - Brad's opener is always one to see...Brad opened with a single spotlight on him & his guitar...then, it kicked in - what we thought was Brad was an illusion of him - Brad appeared inside the bowl seating, with the fans...he made his way around the stage, high fiving fans & singing his songs. This guy is fantastic. Someone I am proud to say I can call a friend - he is honest & sincere.
I'd invite you to see one of his shows if you get a chance this year - it's well worth the price of admission.
Here are some pictures that I'd like to share - njoy!
