...It looks like Tony Romo will be a Dallas Cowboy for a while. He has just signed another big contract with America's Team.
DallasCowboys.com is reporting that Romo has agreed to a six year extension worth $108 million. $55 million will be guaranteed...so for now, we can all assume the price of a beer at Cowboys Stadium will probably go up to $15!...popcorn will be $8, and rest assured, season tickets will also probably go up.
With a $17 million contract per year, Romo moves up in the ranks of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
With the resigning, the Cowboys were able to free up some money in the salary cap. Veterans Anthony Spencer, L.P. Ladoucer and Ernie Sims are a lock. The 'Boys have also acquired the services of veterans Will Allen (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Justin Durant (Detroit Lions). We'll keep an eye on other Dallas Cowboys' free agent signings. Go Cowboys!
The Band Perry will be releasing its new cd, PIONEER at Wal-Mart stores, on Tuesday April 2nd. It will feature their brand new song, DONE...
TBP is offering a neat opportunity!
You can go by Wal-Mart in the RGV & purchase your copy. The top three selling stores between 4/2-29 (across America) will win an in-store performance from the Band Perry. Sweet!
....HOLY SCREAMING FANS, BATMAN! Check out this homecoming concert with the Band Perry. You couldn't hear them, but there are captions...craziness!
Jo-Jo & Blake hang at The Knibbe Ranch in San Antonio.
I've gotta admit...one of the coolest things I've had a chance to do recently was spend the weekend in San Antonio...drove up on Friday, saw Bret Eldredge perform, enjoyed great company from friends from around the U.S....
Bret Eldredge performance @ the JW Marriott in Ssan Antonio.
...on Saturday, I had a chance to speak to one of my all time favorite people...Blake Shelton.
Blake & I have a really good relationship. He has always been courteous & a very thoughtful & light-hearted person. I remember meeting Blake, years ago, when AUSTIN had first come out. We met up again in Nashville at one of our conventions & I ran into him at an ATM. I told him to pull enough money out, so that he could buy a new pair of boots...not sure if he had the money for it, then or not...although, he can probably afford a couple of pair, now!
A one-on-one interview with Blake.
His new cd is called BASED ON A TRUE STORY, in stores 3/26/13 (see it in the background of the picture above). It already has a big hit, "Sure Be Cool If You Did" on it. The next release will be "Boys Round Here". It has a similar feel to "Hillbilly Bone," according to Blake.
We had a chance to sit down & talk about life, the tabloids, The Voice, and the new cd. To this day, it still puts a smile on my face to see & hear him talk. He's a very talented individual.
After the interview, we went our seperate ways...I went to lunch & he conducted some other interviews. Later that afternoon, we met up at the Knibbe Ranch in north San Antonio. Blake, as always, was jubilant & had fun words for everyone present. We took a tour of the ranch in a flat bed trailer, filled with hay, that he kept chewing on...afterwards, we sat on the porch & talked jibberish, sports, life, music...anything that came to mind - there were no boundaries, no shows to perform at, no long line of people to meet, just about 40 people in the radio business hanging out with the 'self proclaimed, "most interesting man in country music...' " What a treat! It was like hanging out with your family at a reunion. Some ate, some drank, some wandered off, but a good time was had by all.
We then had a chance to listen to his new cd. Blake & producer Scott Hendricks shared their thoughts on the music & told us about the work that had gone into putting it together. After the listen, it was time for dinner. A huge spread of steak, ribs, chicken, oh, so much food...oh, and a fantastic array of desserts...including 'cowboy style cobbler' in a big 'ol skillet :)
After dinner, we all gathered around the camp fire...Blake pulled out his guitar & sang for us. There was no fan fair, no amps, no security....just a bunch of radio people, Blake, and his guitar. Blake stayed as long as he could but then had to leave, to pick up his wife at the airport. You could tell he didn't want to leave, if for no other reason, but that he could just hang out & be himself... What a special night it was.
If you get a chance, pickup Blake's new cd. It's a good piece of music. Cheers, to many more Blake Shelton albums!
Billy Currington & Jo-Jo hang at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas prior to a Gary Alan show.
Many of you may remember, a couple of years ago when Billy Currington & Jamey Johnson performed a free show at the RGVLS in Mercedes. It was crazy! I remember getting reports of the traffic backup on the expressway, the thousands & thousands of people that were there to see, what I thought at the time, was an "unproven artist"...Billy had some songs on the radio, but never really got over the top...or at least that was what I thought...to our surprise, the Rio Grande Valley LOVED BILLY CURRINGTON!
Since then, Billy has had tremendous success in South Texas. Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer and People Are Crazy are still among Valley favorites. This Friday night, Billy will return to the RGVLS. We are totally psyched! Can't wait!
If you plan on attending, get there early. You'll be able to drop by the KTEX Radio Ranch & register for meet & greet passes. We are directly across from the special events center.
Billy has a new song, called "HEY GIRL" that I am sure he'll be performing on Friday. I wanted you to be the first to get your hands on the lyrics...also, here is a clip of the song - sing along.. Njoy - c u on Friday night!
Hey girl, what’s your name girl
I’ve been lookin’ at you
Every guy here’s doin’ the same girl
It’d be a shame girl
If I let you just walk on by
‘Cause I’m all caught up in your sweet smile
A girl like you comes around once in a while
So hot, gotta give it a shot
Gotta get get a little bit of what you got
I know you don’t know me but I can’t leave here lonely
Knowin’ I didn’t even try to make you mine and
You might think I’m crazy
Girl but who could blame me
You’re lookin’ so fine got me all tongue tied
And the only line I can think to say is
Hey girl, whatcha think girl
You look a little thirsty lemme go getcha something to drink girl
Before you blink girl
I’ll be right back by your side
Or if you want we can roll out
I know my way ‘round this town
I got a shotgun seat for you
You can tell me where it is you wanna take off to
Well baby you’re still standin’ here
So I guess you must like what you hear
Hey girl, whatcha say girl
‘Bout you and me gettin’away girl

If you had $1.5 - 2.5 million dollars, what would you do with it? I would pay off bills, then buy a new house, followed by purchasing a suite at Dallas Cowboys Stadium...until then, it is all a dream....
Welcome back to reality!
Some folks can afford it...like Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys. They just recently purchased a custom made bus that has already made several trips, including the Super Bowl & will soon be headed to the NFL Combine to scout college talent.
Njoy the video, dream on....& remember, one can never have too many tv's!
Jason Aldean performs at Las Palmas Race Park in Mission.
What were you doing in 1994? Jason Aldean was in his final year of high school, gas was only $1.09, and it was also the year of the famous low speed chase that OJ Simpson was involved in.
Jason Aldean is taking you back to "1994". That is the title to his new release. The song takes you through several events/songs that Joe Diffie made popular.
You can catch Jason on the TODAY show on Feb. 26th & on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Feb. 27th.

It's always great to hear about people from Texas being honored for their work...esp when it comes to a guy who has worked his tail end off, getting to where he has gotten.
George Strait has a huge love for his fans & his fans have shown the love back throughout the years by buying his music, attending his concerts, and listening to the GS Hour on KTEX every Friday afternoon.
George will be the receipient of the 2013 Country Radio Broadcasters Career Achievement Awards, later this month.
This award is "presented to an individual artist or act that, through their creativity, vision, performance, or leadership has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of country music and country radio."
Strait has been at it for more than 30 years & has the most #1's of any other artist in history. His record sales have topped 69 million copies - 33 of them going platinum or multi-platinum. Strait has had 85 out of 90 radio songs make it to the Top 10 - amazing! Here is a clip of George talking about his work & the help he's received along the way.
One of life's greatest miracles is having a child. They can be a pain in the back end sometimes, but overall, they are the most fantastic human beings...we were all once there, digging in the dirt with our brand new shoes, bringing things into the house that definately did not belong, some ate bugs, and even chewed on wires...having kids is so much fun! You get to raise them, enjoy their company & watch them grow up...pretty soon, they are out of the house & you're left thinking..."they grew up quick."
Josh Turner recently released a new song that is really cool. Click on the link to see the video. http://www.umgnashville.com/radio/joshturner/findmeababy-premiere/ . The song is called "Find Me A Baby." I hope you enjoy it & share it with someone who is expecting. If you've had your run at having kids, you can watch & reflect on your own. Njoy! jj
